the los angeles {breath} angels of an{breath}aheim

I grew up rooting for the California Anaheim Angels. (Yeah…I know they were the Los Angeles Angels once too, but not in my lifetime.) I even chose to go to college in Southern California because I knew that I’d be able to catch a lot of games at Anaheim Stadium Edison Field. They still have a soft spot in my heart, and I check to see how they are doing regularly during the season. However, they are now officially The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Come back here, mr. cybersquatter, thelosangelesangelsofanaheim.com and losangelesangelsofanaheim.com are already taken. Too bad, because I think lots of people would have paid good money for a yourname@thelosangelesangelsofanaheim.com email address…

How ’bout them Mariners?

  • Gary

‘Atta boy. We don’t need no stinking Losagelsesjjksfheim. Go Mariners.

  • Wow. I saw this up for discussion on ocregister.com awhile back, and O.C. residents were fighting it. You have to understand, that there is a big turf/culture war between “Los Angeles County” and “Orange County” residents—Anaheim (Angels, Disneyland, etc.) is not L.A. as most ignorant people think….it is Orange County.

The name change makes no sense to me, even marketing wise and just plain common sense. The team is remaining in Anaheim…remaining in Orange County, and even the name “Orange County” is becoming a popular brand name…but to put “Los Angeles” in the name? Horrible I tell you. Nothing like pissing off the home residents of the team.

I feel I can be smuggingly serious about this….I grew up three blocks from Anaheim Stadium, my grandfather helped build it, and I learned to drive in it’s parking lot, so there. 🙂

Hopefully the new owners will be introduced to Christ at some point, become purpose-driven, and rename the team as is proper.

  • One more thing, humerous, but random. When you transfer all the spanish and german words from “The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim” into their literal meaning, it goes something like “The City of Angels Angels of [Santa Ana]river home.”

    I’m done now. 🙂
