I couldn’t hold out any longer :), and I upgraded to WordPress 1.5. That also means I’ve got a new look. I’m not sure how long it will last because there are a few things laying out funny, but it seems to function at least. If you run into problems with how it is functioning, please let me know.

  • Why the change?

  • Because the template I was using isn’t yet available for WordPress 1.5 — besides, it’s kind of nice to have a look that has at least been somewhat customized by me. I don’t feel like quite as much of a freeloader.

  • John, tell me about WordPress? How does it compare to Typepad?

  • David,
I haven’t used TypePad, so I can’t give a direct comparison, but I’ll go with what I do know.

WordPress is a free script that you install on your own server. So, if you already have server space you can install it yourself. There are all sorts of different plug-ins, etc. that people have written. Obviously, you have access to the code, so you an also tweak it to your liking based on however much you know how to code php. I would say that, with it’s newest release, and arguably before that, it is generally considered to be the best blog script out there.
