KallestadThis is a very intriguing article to me: The Megachurch That’s Reinventing Itself. Having lived in the Phoenix metro area for over a decade, I was quite familiar with Community Church of Joy and various impressions people had of it. I’m interested to see how well some of the transitions they are trying to make will go.

  • I am reading a book from that church just now. “Passionate Chruch” about some of the tools they have used for the transition toward a more relational and discipleship focussed community. Interesting read.

  • Dave O

Very interesting. I know of another large church I’d like to see get more focused on community and relations as opposed to growth. I guess it could happen…

  • wow. that’s …wow.

  • it will be interesting to see what happens!

  • I think it’s interesting that CCOJ is doing this – I wonder if some of the change is due to the fact that Christ Church of the Valley took almost half of their congregation when it built its building.

I’m reading A Passionate Life by Kallestad and the guy from England who is introducing LifeShapes to the congregation. It’s interesting so far.
